While talking to a friend of mines about life, which for me would be designing, he came up with an awesome idea to redesign the football uniforms for the Florida A&M Rattlers. Light bulb!

 

See at that particular time, the Florida State Seminoles had just unveiled their brand new jersey designs. It was a big event in the city of Tallahassee and while the anticipation of the 2014-15 season was nearing, you couldn’t help but wonder, “What about FAMU?”

 

So I pondered on the idea of a new look for the University’s football team. Something modern, bold, and full of culture. Something that will separate them from the stereotype of HBCU’s not being able to keep up with FCS teams.

The rich tradition of Rattle Pride the not only covers the city of Tallahassee but stretches across the country. By incorporating the Rattle Snake into the uniform, in the helmet and shoulders, the Ratters definitely will have the wow-factor working for them.

 

Five concepts for the new uniforms were designed: 2 Home jerseys, 2 Away jerseys, and 1 alternate jersey. The home jerseys were designed with the option of Rattler Orange or Venom Green being the main colors. With clear visible numbers and lettering these jerseys are cutting edge.
The two away jerseys were designed with an orange accent or a grey accent on the shoulder pads. Even though the Rattlers aren’t at home they can still demand the attention as the superior team on the field.

 

What is expected to be a fan favorite the Smoke alternate jersey was designed to make a statement: We Can Not Be Contained. These uniforms say that we are the best, period. When the Rattlers step on the field, we are faster, we are stronger, we work harder and like smoke…. we cannot be contained.
